In collaboration with partners and Epicentre staff, Rebecca Freeman Grais has focuses most of her work on population-based studies of the effectiveness of preventive measures. She is particularly interested in operationally relevant research and investigations that facilitate discussion and debate on public health issues affecting neglected populations.
Sheila Isanaka joined Epicentre as a nutritional epidemiologist in September 2011. Her work focuses on the design and implementation of Epicentre’s research studies related to the treatment of malnutrition and the interaction between malnutrition and infectious disease morbidity.
Prior to joining Epicentre, Sheila worked with several non-governmental organizations and UN agencies to design and implement epidemiological research related to the identification and effective treatment of acute malnutrition in young children. She received a Doctor of Science degree in Epidemiology and Nutrition from the Harvard School of Public Health, where her work focused on the relationship between micronutrient deficiency and the progression of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.
Céline Langendorf joined Epicentre as epidemiologist in February 2011. She collaborates to the design and implementation of Epicentre’s research studies with a laboratory component. She was working as laboratory head and field coordinator at the Epicentre research centre In Niger during 18 months.
She graduated as a pharmaceutical doctor specialized in Medical Lab Sciences at the University in Lyon, France. She completed a master’s degree in International Public Health and Tropical Diseases and a degree in Statistics Applied to Medicine and Epidemiology.
Augusto Llosa joined Epicentre in 2010. His research interests include vaccine preventable diseases and mental health in humanitarian settings.
Prior to Epicentre Augusto held field based coordination positions in Asia, Latin America and Africa with Médecins Sans Frontières and the Institute for OneWorld Health.
He received his Ph.D. in epidemiology from Stanford University.
Francisco Luquero joined Epicentre as Medical epidemiologist in November 2007. In his role he works on vaccine preventable diseases with special focus on rotavirus, cholera and measles in African countries. He collaborates as well in the implementation of rapid health assessments in emergencies context, surveillance systems and other operational research projects.
Francisco Luquero graduated as a medical doctor specialized in Public Health at the medical university in Valladolid, Spain. He completed a master’s degree in public health at the National Health School at Madrid, Spain, and obtained the European Program for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET) diploma in 2008
Once he completed his medical studies, Andrea Minetti set off for a health centre in the hills of Rwanda. He then decided to study tropical medicine and join MSF. He worked as a doctor, field manager and emergency coordinator in several African and Asian countries. In 2006, he obtained a public health diploma and joined MSF's Medical Department in Paris as the head of malnutrition. He became an epidemiologist at Epicentre in 2008.
Fabienne Nackers is a medical doctor who graduated in Epidemiology in Brussels (UCL/ULB) and London (LSHTM). She started her career as a research assistant (UCL) and obtained a PhD degree for her work on Mycobacterium ulcerans disease conducted in collaboration with the Institute of Tropical Medicine (Antwerp).
She joined Epicentre in 2006 and has been based in Brussels and Uganda. She is part of the department of Population Health but is also involved in field epidemiology, training and clinical research.
Anne-Laure Page joined Epicentre in 2006. She is involved in the organisation of field studies on the diagnosis of infectious diseases in developing countries, with a special focus on the development and evaluation of simple diagnostic tools for field use.
After completing a PhD in molecular microbiology at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, Anne-Laure Page worked at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea, and undertook a post-doctoral fellowship in virology at the University of California, San Francisco.
Thomas graduated from the National Statistics and Information Analysis School (ENSAI) in 2002. He was bitten by the travel bug during his first posting as a statistician in Thailand working on a clinical trial led by the Institute of Research for Development (IRD). He then spent three fruitful years at Nancy teaching hospital's Clinical Epidemiology Centre.
In 2007, his dream came true as he left on a humanitarian aid project for Epicentre in Niger. He has since worked at headquarters as a statistician as well as managing other, mainly nutrition-related projects.
Carrie Teicher joined Epicentre in August 2011 and is based in the MSF-USA office in New York. She works on a range of topics including environmental health, pediatrics and surgery. Currently she is developing the dossier of surgical epidemiology for Epicentre with a special focus on the reconstructive surgery program in Amman, Jordan.
Amanda Tiffany joined Epicentre as an Epidemiologist in September 2010. She earned her MPH from the University of California, Los Angeles with a focus in Global Health and Infectious Diseases. Based in Geneva with MSF Switzerland, she participates in a variety of projects which include; mortality surveys, surveillance system implementation and operational research.
Prior to joining Epicentre she was an Allan Rosenfield Global Health Fellow with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Her international experience includes programs and consultancies in Botswana, Zambia, Angola, Niger, Guinea and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
